When creating our extensive menu, Head Chef Bryan Parsons doesn't have to look far for inspiration. The beef and lamb comes from our own farm, only 2 miles away in Orton and is prepared in our own cutting room which is based within the Farm Shop at our southbound service area.  The oak smoked fish is from The Old Smoke House, Brougham Hall near Penrith, and we serve a superb selection of local cheeses including Keldwith Gold, Blengdale Blue, Cobble Tasty, Westmorland Smoked Cheddar, Cumberland Farmhouse and Tovey, which are all produced by local Cumbrian dairies.

As a company, our commitment to locally sourced food has gone even further, with the creation of the Farm Shops, which are quite literally a five minute stroll from the hotel. Within the first year of trading the shops won the prestigious BBC Radio 4 Best Local Food and Farming Awards for Best Local Retailer 2003.

The Farm Shops are a unique partnership between our own local farm and the award winning Tebay Motorway Services; the lamb we sell is reared on the hills that surround us and carries the special flavour of local upland herbage.

The shops stock an impressive selection of products including food from 82 local producers, 33 cheeses from the British Isles, 12 British Taste Award winners, locally reared beef, fresh vegetables, freshly baked bread, 10 varieties of sausage - the list is endless!
